EV Conversion Kit Company GoGoA1 Announces Footprint Expansion to 50+ Franchises Across India
An EV conversion kit does exactly what it says. And to be reliable, it must be RTO approved. Most recently, such kits were mentioned in reference to older cars driving on NCR streets.
With such vehicles not meeting current standards of dignity to drive on roads, such vehicles could be revived if converted to electric vehicles. The idea sounds good. However, the issue is complex as there are no OEMs that manufacture and sell such EV conversion kits.
GoGoA1 is supported by the Government of Delhi in accordance with the National Green Tribunal (NGT). This makes them the only Maharashtra company to participate in a process to convert 10-year-old Hero Splendor motorcycles into electric vehicles. The cost of the Hero Splendor Electric Conversion Kit is about Rs 35k. The claimed range is up to 151 km.
This in turn benefits existing motorcycle owners, as they can continue to use the bicycle for longer. Lifetime increase estimate of existing vehicles is approximately 5-7 years. These, too, would not fall under the new demolition policy.
Policy support for renovation companies
Current legislation regarding retrofitting is strict. Only authorized government agencies can install the retrofit kits. To make this a robust platform teeming with technology and innovation, more RTO-approved companies need to be recognized.
Policy support for adapting companies of administrative bodies is needed. Such kits convert current vehicles into EV capable without adding new vehicles. Extending the life of vehicles at risk from the new scrappage policy could still be kept on the road.
Taking into account the potential demand, private players have entered the market. In recent years, EVs have become an important part of future mobility discussions. Given the potential demand, the two-wheeler market in India has seen a wave of new entrants on the manufacturing side.
Never before has such a large number of two-wheeler manufacturers entered the market in such a fast time. And as this transition begins, the ability to transition can be made easy through retrofit kits.
GoGoA1, a Mumbai-based entity, offers an RTO-approved electric motorcycle conversion kit. And they say demand is up 60 percent since the announcement. With demand for EVs already growing, and more so for two-wheelers, it’s only natural for the company’s retrofit kit to fill in the gap for smoother transitions. GoGoA1 aims to “transform existing fuel-powered two-wheelers, three-wheelers and automobiles to electric-powered technologies by creating hybrid and complete conversion kits.”
Shrikant Shinde, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, GoGoA1 shared: “We have a strong franchise network footprint with over 50 registered franchises across India in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal, Delhi and across India” . For all franchisees, GoGoA1 offers options including collaboration for conversion kit installation, battery exchange, and vehicle leasing.
