New KTM 990 Duke spotted again during testing

– Expectant KTM 990 Duke spied on

– Probably a bigger engine and updated electronics

– Global unveiling likely by the end of 2022

KTM was spotted testing what appears to be the 990 Duke. While the manufacturer already has the 790 and 890 Duke, switching to a higher-capacity motorcycle may be due to emissions and noise regulations that seem to be getting stricter by the day.

Now the KTM 990 Duke is expected to get a heavily revised version of the 890 Duke engine. There is no confirmed information on its power figures, but it will definitely have a performance bump compared to the 890. However, we can see that KTM made minor changes to accommodate the bike and also added a new swingarm to the mix. This swingarm is sturdier but hollowed out and redesigned for the new exhaust.

In addition, the upcoming 990 Duke is expected to get new bodywork that looks more aggressive thanks to the new radiator shrouds and fuel tank design. At the rear, however, the bike seems to be inspired by the 690 Duke of yesteryear. Another interesting part of the design is the new stacked headlight which adds a bit of radicalism; something that KTM fans love.

Now we can expect KTM to unveil the 990 Duke for global markets by the end of the year, though it’s unlikely to launch in India anytime soon.
