New KTM RC390 India launch postponed to next month

– New RC390 launch in March

– Problems with the delivery of semiconductors

– Can get a marginal price increase

KTM India will launch the 2022 model of the RC390 sometime next month. The launch was previously scheduled for January-February but has been pushed back to March.

The launch delay is due to the shortage of semiconductors. We also spoke to a few dealers who confirmed the same. However, the company has been teasing the launch of the RC390 on its social media channels for days.

For the year 2022, the RC390 will get a lot of big changes. The styling is brand new and the dashboard now has a new design language. The updated design brings out a single pod headlight as opposed to the projector-style units on the old model. The front also features fairing-mounted rear-view mirrors and an updated turn signal arrangement. Other updates include a sharper fairing design, 13.7 liter fuel tank, redesigned tailpiece and side exhaust.

The engine continues to draw its power from a 373cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This engine gets a larger airbox and new engine mapping. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch mechanism. The standard feature list on the India-spec KTM RC 390 will most likely include full LED lighting, a Bluetooth-enabled TFT color display, switchable ABS, lean angle sensitive cornering ABS, cornering traction control and the Quickshifter+.

We expect a marginal price increase compared to the old model. So expect an ex-showroom price of around Rs 2.78 lakh.
