New Triumph Tiger 1200 reservations open in India

– Pre-bookings open before launch

– Launch date not yet available

– To compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4 and BMW R 1250GS

Triumph Motorcycles India has started pre-booking for its flagship Adventure Tourer, the Tiger 1200. While the company has confirmed the start of pre-booking, it has yet to announce a launch date for this motorcycle.

The bike was fully unveiled earlier this month and is already available in select international markets. The 2022 Triumph Tiger 1200 gets several upgrades over its predecessor. This flagship Adventure Tourer from the British brand will be sold in two configurations – Rally and GT. The GT range is designed for touring, while the Rally model is geared towards off-road use. For example, the GT model range uses 19-inch alloy wheels at the front and 18-inch rear and a relatively shorter suspension travel than the Rally variant. The off-road Rally biased model gets longer suspension travel and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels in a cross-spoke design.

Both variants use the same 1,160cc, inline three-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. Mated to a six-speed manual transmission, the engine is tuned to produce 147 hp at 9,000 rpm and 130 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheel via a shaft drive system.

The new Triumph Tiger 1200 will compete with the Ducati Multistrada V4 series and the BMW R 1250 GS series. We expect the new model to start at Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) at a higher price than its predecessor and retail.
