TVS reports 2W domestic sales decline and 2W export growth for February 2022

TVS Motor’s total sales of two-wheelers are reported at 2,67,625 units in February 2022, down from 2,84,581 units in February 2021. Volume loss was 17,000 units, down approximately 6 percent. Mom’s sales growth is reported at 5.31 percent, up 2,54,139 units on a volume gain of 13,486 units.

Of these, domestic two-wheeler sales fell by 1,73,198 units, down from 1,95,145 units in February 2021. The volume loss is estimated at just under 22,000 units with a decline of 11.25 percent. MoM growth stands at 3.22 percent, versus 1,67,795 units.

Motorcycle sales are reported to grow 4.56 percent, up 1,43,523 units from 1,37259 units a year earlier. The volume gain was 6,264 units. While motorcycle sales improved, it was not enough to offset the overall decline in 2W sales due to a sharp decline in moped sales and a moderate decline in scooter sales. MoM growth is pegged at 4.49 percent, up from 1,37,360 units. Motorcycles offered by TVS include Apache range, Raider 125cc, Sport, Radeon, Star City.

The shortage of semiconductors has had an impact on production and thus on sales. TVS is cautiously optimistic that the semiconductor supply will improve in the coming months. The situation is that manufacturers are constantly navigating to limit delivery times.

While motorcycle sales continue to top the sales chart for TVS, moped sales have taken a significant hit of late. Sales of TVS XL100 mopeds fell to 37,486 units from 51,797 units. Volume loss surpassed the 14k mark with a drop of more than a quarter. MoM moped sales growth is reported at 3.56 percent, versus 36,199 units.

TVS scooter sales fell to 86,616 units, compared to 95,525 units in February 2021. Volume loss was 8,909 units, down 9.33 percent. MoM scooter sales growth was 7.49 percent, an increase of 80,580 units. Scooters that TVS offers include Jupiter, Ntorq, Pep+, Zest and iQube electric. Total 2W domestic sales are reported at 1,73,198 units, down from 1,95,145 units. Volume loss was 21,947 units, a decrease of 11.25 percent.

TVS Export, 3 Wheelers February 2022

Total exports increased by 1,07,574 units from 1,01,789 units with a growth of 6 percent. Two-wheeler exports are up 94,427 units, compared to 89,436 units with a growth of 5.58 percent. Tricycle sales rose 14,089 units, from 13,166 units, up 7 percent. Domestic 3W sales are reported at 942 units, up from 813 units with a growth of 15.87 percent. 3W exports increased to 13,147 units, compared to 12,353 units with a volume increase of 794 units. A growth of 6.43 percent is reported.

TVS Motor Company reports total sales of 2,81,714 units in February 2022. Year-over-year sales declined from 2,97,747 units. Volume loss was 16,000 units with a decrease of 5.38 percent. MoM’s overall growth was 5.59 percent, up from 2,66,788 units. Total domestic sales decline is reported at 11.13 percent, from 1,95,858 units to 1,74,140 units. The volume loss amounted to 21,818 units.
